This recent bathroom remodeling project in Plainville, Connecticut, completed by the in-house crew at First Choice Bathroom Remodeling for homeowners Sam and Michelle, shows how a well-designed tub-to-shower conversion in Plainville, CT can completely transform a dated hall bathroom without changing its footprint.

The original space featured a one-piece beige fiberglass tub-shower surround with molded corner shelves, a chrome curtain rod, standard chrome fixtures, cream-colored walls, beige floor tile with small dark accents, a honey-oak vanity, and an exposed-bulb light bar — a combination that made the compact room feel dark and dated, while the high tub wall made daily use less convenient and the shower curtain visually closed off the space.

Our team removed the old tub-and-shower unit and rebuilt the area as a dedicated walk-in shower with a white low-profile shower base, large-format slate-look wall tile in a mix of gray, blue, charcoal, and warm rust tones with crisp white grout lines, a recessed shower niche with mosaic accent tile for built-in storage, an oversized rainfall-style shower head, a handheld wand on a slide bar with coordinating brushed-silver controls, and a frameless sliding glass enclosure with clear panels, tall pulls, and exposed sliding hardware that keeps the shower accessible while letting the tile work remain the focal point.

The rest of this Plainville bathroom renovation was tied together with a deep navy vanity topped by a bright white countertop and brushed-nickel faucet, a driftwood-style mirror frame, a four-light clear-glass fixture, a pale blue-gray wall color, and warm wood-look flooring that balances the cool palette — and the finished bathroom feels dramatically brighter, larger, and more modern, cleans up more easily, and better supports the homeowners' daily routine.
